Connections

Put yourself in the role of the first time guest. You don’t know where to park your car or your children. You may be emotionally bumped, bruised and scarred from heart-rending trauma. You may be weary from keeping pace in the fast lane. You worry about how you will fit in and if you will make friends. Then a yellow-shirted man greets you and helps you with your children. A smiling woman shows you the way to classes for the children and helps you find the worship service. A small thought germinates, “If God’s people are this friendly, perhaps God Himself is welcoming me as well.

Meeting guests in an up-close and personal way is the privilege of all who are involved in assimilation—the ministry of creating community. While the pastors, worship team, choir, Sunday school teachers and deacons all play significant roles, the men and women meeting and greeting have a unique opportunity to meet our guests as individuals. Their ministry is the key to unlocking the hearts of people who have come seeking safety and God’s touch.

If you would like to be involved in a face to face, hand to hand, heart to heart ministry, call Bettejean at 387-1580 x2107 and see how you can use your passion for people.

Inviting

Assimilation begins with invitation. The best invitation is always the personal one, where Chapel members invite their friends, neighbors and family members. But beyond our spheres of personal influence are many people who need and desire what The Chapel offers. In response to our mission to invite, we seek to provide members with tools for reaching their friends and neighbors and to promote The Chapel to anyone in the Greater Baton Rouge community who is seeking a church home.

Including

Assimilation creates a warm and welcoming environment designed to help guests feel anticipated and appreciated. We value our Sunday morning guests and work hard to make it easier for them to take their first steps in finding their way around The Chapel.

Informing

Chapel guests are eager to learn more about The Chapel programs and ways in these programs can meet personal needs. Assimilation Ministry desires to communicate information on ministries and upcoming events without putting the visitor under obligation. The initial communications are designed to be inviting and informative without being intimidating.
