Prayer Updates from Prague

June 21, 2010

Kevin
God's Spirit is moving in Prague. With a little over 2 weeks left in this city, we are praying and expecting great things. Pray for Harry. He is so close to making a life changing decision for the Lord. Pray that He would see knowing God as it is: incomparable to any of the temporary satisfactions he is so afraid to give up.

Jackie
Thank you for your continued prayers for Vita over the past 8 weeks. Vita has placed her faith in Christ. What’s even cooler is that she was supposed to leave for Spain the next day, but her visa papers were stolen on a tram. (Who would even want those?) Anyways, Vita and I will now be able to have several follow-up meetings. I am praying for her to connect with some of the Czech believers here and that her faith would be rooted in good soil. Reggie is doing great also. Please pray that the Lord would just continue to draw her near to Himself and that we will have great time in the word together these last couple weeks.

Kristen
I've really connected with Petra. She's my age and just about to begin her first year at the University here in Prague. She is a christian and asked me to "teach her the questions that will make Czech's think about eternal life and faith in Christ." Petra is so important to the Lord's ministry here in Prague because she lives here permanently. Her impact could be huge. Pray that she stands strong in her faith and is not swayed in her desire to grow and be bold!

Carli
God has been faithful in providing opportunities for me to spend time with and love Zdenka, Mirka, and Daniela. Please be praying for God to soften their hearts and reveal to these girls that true life is found in Him alone.

Carissa
The Lord is doing incredible things with our team and with our new friends. Please continue to pray for Magda, who has a religious background but isn't interested anymore. Also pray for my friend Daniela who is very curious and interested in what we say. Pray for our team that we are totally reliant on Him these last few weeks and nothing else. Pray for focus and boldness.

Mallory
God is great! Please continue to pray that our team finishes this race strong through the power of the Holy Spirit. Also, my language students are closed to the Gospel. Pray that God will open their hearts and minds to His truth. Lastly, please pray four Czech Christians that they will stay strong and start the movement that will change the nation.

Josiah
I have made a good friend here named Jan. We have shared the Gospel with him and he has spent a lot of time thinking and asking questions about it, but he is not ready to put his faith in Christ. Please pray that the Lord would continue to work in His heart and we would be able to continue sharing with him.

Scott
It is hard to think that we arrived in Prague a little less than a month ago, but in that time God has been moving in mighty ways to bring glory to His name. Four students have come to faith in Christ: Rene, Milan, Jan, and Vita. Please pray that God would give our team the power, love and motivation needed to minister to the Czech students over the next 2 weeks.

David
Hey guys. The trip has been going well. I have 3 guys that the Lord has put in my path. Their names are Milan, Dan and Pasha. Milan and Dan are believers but need to be trained up. Pasha needs to see Jesus in us in the way that we love him.

Nathan
Dear family: the things that we have seen on this trip cannot be explained apart from the glory of God. Our desire to follow Christ in obedience is being made known to the people we encountered and they too have been changed because of God's great love for us. Pray that these things would bring glory to God's name as we finish our time here and help these young people chase after our God in their daily lives.

Andrew
Budapest was great this past weekend and I'm ready to get back to meeting new and old contacts. Please keep my new friend, Dan, in your prayers he is a believer I met at ICF, the local church we attend while here. He is longing for me to meet his brother (non-believer) and hopes to get him to come to church as well. Pray that I am can encourage and lead Dan to be bold and share his faith with his brother. Pray also for Rene, a new Christian. he recently left Prague for his home in Slovakia. Pray he finds fellowship and his faith grows daily.

Callie
Hey y'all! Our team just got back from Budapest and while we were there we got to share the Gospel with nine Czech students that we brought with us. Please specifically pray for Sonya, and that she will continue to ask questions about God and will see His love for her through us.

Ernie
God is good. He is moving and it's fun to be a part of it. Pray for Jan. He is a new believer who came to faith just 2 weeks ago. Pray that the content/teaching during our time together would be multiplied. Pray that God would reveal himself to Him daily. That a foundation of faith, time in the Word, and prayer can be laid these next two weeks and that they would continue on long after we are gone.

Second Prayer Letter

Jackie  - The past six weeks in Prague have been some of the most challenging weeks of my walk. The Lord truly is doing a lot in and through every individual on this team. Please pray that God will continue to break our hearts for the lost and that His compassion would overflow out of us. Specific friends of mine to pray for: Vita, Olga, Karolina, Julie, Ales, and Regie. Cau!

Carissa - Pray for our relationships with these Czech students. We’ve individually met so many students and you can see the excitement here. Continue to pray for our team to stay focused. Pray for our new friend, Magda, Martina, Daniela, Iva, Aida & Daniela! All are nonbelievers but they all have some curiosity. Pray this doesn’t end and their curiosity leads them to our heavenly father.

Josiah - God provided an opportunity to share the gospel with Ha, the student I am tutoring here. He seemed very interested in what was said. Please pray that there will be more opportunities to share my faith and that he would be curious and ask questions.

Ernie - Hello, I am going to meet with a guy named Dima today. He is pretty hostel to the gospel, but he is willing to talk to me about it. Pray that God pulls pack the scales from his eyes.

Carli - Please Pray for boldness as I share my faith with Zdonra, Daniella, and Sylvia. It is my prayer that these girls would experience Christ’s love through me. God is definitely working here.

Andrew - Never did I expect to be encouraged and inspired this much by Czech students. I prepared so much to shine a light and at the same time have been shown God’s love in the Christians here like Filip, Dan, and David. I pray they stay strong in their faith long after we leave and that we encourage them to share their faith with fellow Czechs.

Nathan - God has given us incredible favor with the local church. Pray that we can be an encouragement to them but also that we can connect them to unsaved people we come in contact with.

Kristen - Kevin and I had the privilege to help lead worship at ICF (the church). It was a great “in” because after the service two girls who I had met the week before came to me and wanted to hang out this week. So Tuesday I have plans to tour Prague Castle with Barbara and Petra. Pray for spirit-led conversation. Barbara is not a Christian, but she is searching.

Scott - I am so proud of the LSU team for reaching out and connecting with Czech students like Jan and Ales. We met these guys in the cafeteria and now they come to our events “religiously.” One Said: “I’ve been thinking about how you came and spoke with me in the cafeteria. I wouldn’t be here now or know these cool people if it hadn’t happened.” Please pray for Jan and Ales as the team loves them and shares the gospel.

Scott - The past few days have been so exciting. Around a week ago I met David, who is a Christian. Andrew and I had the opportunity to show David how to share the Gospel. Hours later he was already sharing his faith with one of his friends. Please pray that God continues to raise up Christian leaders that are excited about their faith in the Czech Republic.

Callie - This trip has been amazing so far. God has allowed us to meet a lot of students. Please pray specifically for Mirka and Sonya and that they will continue to ask questions about our faith in God.

David - We have made some good contacts with the first 2 weeks. I connected with three new guys: Karel, Milan, and Ota. I reconnected with Pasha and Dima. I meet with Pasha today to read the Bible. Last night I hung out with Peter, who is a believer of nine years. We are going to hang out with students so when I leave, Peter can impact these men when I am gone.

Megan - Hi! Ministry has been going great here in Prague. Deep conversations and friendships have developed already. God is good. Pray that our girls would connect with female Czech students, leading to relationships and more spiritual conversations.

Mallory – Please pray for my friend Sonya because she is seeking hard right now. She is frustrated and does not know what to believe, but wants to be a Christian. Also, please pray that we can be bold for the cause of Christ.

Laura - Please be praying for my friend Sonya, we have had many opportunities to share with her, but she is waiting on a “feeling.” Please pray that she would step out in faith and accept, and that God would continue to soften her heart.

First Prayer Letter for the Summer
Prague May 11, 2010

Thank you so much for your prayers and all your love. More to come.

Eph 3:20

JOSH LARAVIA
It’s my third year to serve the LORD in PRAGUE and every year the LORD deepens my commitment for this country to glorify His Holy Name. The first day on the campus I was in the cafeteria and sat by a guy who had a bracelet on that said, “Good News”. I asked him what “Good News” he had and he went to share about his life being impacted by Christ at an English Camp a few years ago. Needless to say we are meeting with Filip as often as possible and going deep in the Bible together. Please pray for a core group of student leaders to emerge that would have a heart to reach their country for CHRIST. Our passion is to see CZECHS REACHING CZECHS FOR THE GLORY OF GOD. Pasha, Martin, Miro, Filip, Miro II, Otta, Veta, Peter, Petra, Maria, Karalina, Kara, and Ivan are a few students that you can be praying for consistently. We are asking GOD to do exceedingly and Abundantly beyond what we can DREAM or IMAGINE for HIS GLORY.

SCOTT KOCH
Please pray for Aleš, last night he said he still doesn’t know what humanity's purpose is yet on this earth. He also said that he thinks about this all the time. Lately he's been wondering why Jackie and I chose to sit next to him in the cafeteria and if it hadn't happened he would have this opportunity to be at these great activities. I shared the gospel with him and he was very responsive. Blazej, from Poland, was also very excited about the fellowship last night. He said he's been looking for people like us for years in Prague.

KEVIN ROIG
Hey church family! My name is Kevin Roig; I am on staff with the Refuge at the Chapel and am one of the team leaders for the summer team here in Prague! I am excited to be a part of GOD's work in the Czech Republic, but we NEED YOUR PRAYERS on our side as the enemy has a grip on the people of Prague. There are specific students in our midst who are faithful to our group but who NEED JESUS. Pray that Ondrej (Andrew), Victor, and Ken would be moved by the Word of God and that HE would use us to help usher them into the Kingdom this summer. Romans 10:17 - "Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God..."

CHRIS COOK
One of the prayers of our team is that God would open doors for us to be invited into already existing community by Czechs themselves. An answer to that prayer has been meeting a guy named Filip in the cafeteria of the university and striking up a friendship, an added bonus to this is that Filip is also a Christian and happens to meet with two friends every Friday to read the Bible together! This is not common here to say the least. Filip invited some of us to join him this past Friday for what turned out to be the highlight of my trip. It was an amazing thing to be invited into such an intimate circle for one, and even more amazing to see just how big the God we serve is. Please pray for the continuance of these relationships, and that they foster intimacy and growth as we labor to build God's body here in Czech Republic

T.S. NOBLE
It's been two years since I have been to Prague, but the connections I made in just a few days two years ago have been very smooth reconnections. A new connection I have picked up is Ondrej Bittner. Pray for him, because I am jealous for this kid to come to the Kingdom. Though not a believer, it's meeting people like Ondrej (Andrew) that gives me a great hope for Prague. God hasn't and will not abandon these people no matter how bleak it may seem here, and I am so honored to be here to see what He is doing.

JACKIE MOSELEY
Hey there Chapel Family! Like Kevin, I am on staff with The Refuge College Ministry at The Chapel, and one of the team leaders for the Prague summer team. Being a minute part of our God’s plan for the Czech people for the second summer in a row is an honor and privilege. Reconnecting with students from last year and meeting new students over the past two weeks has been simply amazing. God truly has burdened my heart for His people in Prague. I hope that you will join me in praying that God would draw these students to Himself (John 6:44) and that they would believe in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior (John 5:34).

ALLISON LARAVIA
Hi Chapel family! We brought our entire family here – Kennedy (3) and Jackson (10 months) along with my parents – John and Penny. God has been doing some work here that is quite remarkable. I was reunited with past friendships from my previous trip two years ago. I have been studying in 1 and 2 Timothy and God has used those verses as a “charge” for me to be as Paul was with Timothy – to declare who is this Jesus, to encourage their faith, and to remind them of what they are to be about as a daughter of the Living King! The Holy Spirit has reunited our hearts as if we spoke every day and for a Czech – that is unusual. They have a hard time getting very personal – it takes a lot of time; but God has mended my heart to 4 girls here within just a conversation! Please pray that as quickly as they bonded with me, that they do the same with the team that is arriving shortly, that their hearts will long for maturity and obedience, and that the evil one stays at bay. We have been under much spiritual attack which is a great encouragement to me – by God’s grace, we are doing battle in the heavenlies!
