Kevin McKee
Senior Pastor

Background: Kevin's hometown is Baton Rouge. He graduated from LSU in 1985 receiving a B.S. in computer science. Kevin has enjoyed three key seasons of his life and ministry at The Chapel. As a student in the 80s, he enjoyed growing and learning through the college ministry. It helped him become grounded in his faith and set the course for a lifetime in ministry. After graduating from Dallas Theological Seminary (Th.M.) in 1990, God brought Kevin and his family back to work at The Chapel as a youth and college pastor. For seven delightful years, he grew as a pastor, husband and father. By God's grace during those years,

Kevin was also able to complete his studies at Gordon-Conwell Seminary for his Doctorate of Ministry. In 1998, the McKee family moved to Colorado Springs where Kevin served on the pastoral staff of Fellowship Bible Church. But with mountains in the rearview mirror, they returned to The Chapel in 2002. Through all these seasons of life he has had one simple desire, “To tell people about Jesus.” He has not recovered from God's amazing grace and salvation that Kevin experienced at a Young Life Camp at the age of 16.

Family: Kevin married his wife Mary in 1985 and they have four wonderful children. Ministering to the community and students of LSU is one of his passions.

Ministry: Kevin is Senior Pastor at The Chapel. It is his joy to be involved at The Chapel, serving and growing in the unique community of our church.

Donald Tabb
Pastor Emeritus

Background: Reverend Tabb originally came to Baton Rouge as a member of Billy Graham’s Evangelistic Team in 1970 for a five day crusade in Tiger Stadium. Reverend Tabb became a Christian at Texas A&M in his senior year, through the witness of his roommate. (His conversion was a shock to his teammates on the Texas A&M Rodeo Team!) Following his service as an Airborne Ranger in the 82nd Airborne Division, he worked two years as the Director of North Texas Methodist Foundation, and two years at Lost Valley Ranch in Colorado. Reverend Tabb then joined the Billy Graham Team for seven years, leaving for a call to form a new church on the Louisiana State University campus -- The Chapel on the Campus.

Family: Donald married his wife Mary in 1958. Mary is a retired Professor of English at Louisiana State University. They have five children, and eight grandchildren.

Ministry: Donald Tabb is the Pastor Emeritus of The Chapel on the Campus, an independent evangelical church on the campus of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA. As founder, he served as the Senior Pastor for 30 years.

Chris "Critter" Cook
College Pastor

Background: Chris grew up in Mandeville, Louisiana and graduated from LSU in December 2009 with a bachelors in Business Management. Along with being an avid tiger football fan, he became very involved in The Refuge college ministry at The Chapel his freshman year and grew up through its leadership structure. He came on staff his senior year in Fall 2008.

Family: Chris recently married his wife, Allison, in September 2011. Chris comes from a large and loving family with two awesome older brothers (His brother Patrick is a deacon at The Campus location), two beautiful younger sisters, and two whippersnapper younger brothers, who are good for wrestling. He is the proud son of Brad and Melanie Cook.

Ministry: Most recently Chris has served as the Assistant College Pastor with The Refuge. The past few years have been an exciting ride for him as God has used The Chapel and men like Josh LaRavia to bring clarity to his calling to ministry and, more specifically, his desire to reach the world through university students here at LSU and abroad. Chris is driven by the highest call to represent His king well and in the words of Paul, “Present everyone mature in Christ.” With maturity in Christ as the aim and discipleship as the means, Chris is trusting God will continue to use him, the incredible staff who serve with him and The Refuge leadership team to make an impact for Christ here at LSU and on university campuses around the world!

Hans Googer

Background: In 2002, while an undergraduate at LSU, Hans came to The Chapel along with Josh Laravia and a team of collegians. They came to do college ministry. Hans shares of the excitement, "to get involved on the 'ground level' of what God was doing here at The Chapel." After graduating in 2004 (and getting married three weeks later), Hans headed to Dallas Seminary to pursue his Master of Theology degree (emphasis in Old Testament and Pastoral Ministry). He graduated from Dallas in May of 2009 and headed back across the border to begin ministry here at The Chapel.

Family: Hans married his wife Courtney in January of 2005. They have two sons, Ethan James and Asher Benjamin.

Ministry:
Hans is a pastor at The Chapel with three very different ministry areas: Internationals, young professionals (the new word for “singles”), and young families. While these ministries seem very different, the end goal is the same: maturity in Christ. He is here to help establish a discipleship structure for these areas and equip and train leaders who can continue people on to maturity.

Hans longs to see three things in his ministry here at The Chapel: (1) that the Internationals become mature leaders in their home cities; (2) that our young adults and families become the next generation's leaders and missionaries and (3) that our church family becomes completely dedicated to life-long discipleship.
