(Worship Arts Ministry for Kids)
WAM for Kids provides an opportunity for children to learn God’s truth through choir and the arts. Each week the children participate in choir and creative arts workshops to help them develop their skills and talents in drama, visual arts, and dance.
Creative Arts Workshops
Drama
This workshop will help you develop your acting skills through improvisation, object lessons, drama games, interactive storytelling, visualization activities, dramatic sketches and monologues. The scriptures tell us that Jesus expressed a variety of emotions. As actors we can portray the Lord's emotions to bring people to know Him more intimately. Bring an active imagination, creativity and a teachable spirit and you'll have lots of fun learning Biblical truths in exciting new ways! "The gospel writers paint their portraits of Jesus using a kaleidoscope of brilliant "emotional" colors. Jesus felt compassion; he was angry, indignant, and consumed with zeal; he was troubled, greatly distressed, very sorrowful, depressed, deeply moved, and grieved; he sighed; he wept and sobbed; he groaned; he was in agony; he was surprised and amazed; he rejoiced very greatly and was full of joy; he greatly desired, and he loved." by G. Walter Hansen
Visual Arts
In this workshop you will learn to draw, paint and create beautiful works of art with different media on a variety of surfaces. Express yourself as you develop your creative thinking and visual skills and learn the principles of design. This year our focus will be seeing the amazing makeover God can perform in our hearts. You'll have lots of fun and be amazed at what you can do! Then the Lord said to Moses, "See, I have chosen Bezalel… and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts-to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of craftsmanship. Exodus 31:2-5
Dance
This workshop will help you develop your technique and abilities as a dancer. You will learn to creatively express your love for the Lord through interpretive movement and dance to songs of worship. Participation in this elective will require the purchase of black jazz shoes to be used at all rehearsals and performances at The Chapel. You will supply your own shoes. Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with tambourine and harp. Psalm 149:3
